In the record

Set aside for the Delaware by an act of March 1807 as 13 sections in Ohio, including the Lower Delaware town, then ceded by the Delaware at the 1817 Treaty of the Maumee Rapids. The area covers about 0 thousand acres in what is now Ohio.

The 1899 record names Chippewa (Ojibwe), Delaware (Lenape), Ottawa, Potawatomi, Shawnee and 1 more as the people of this land.

How it was taken: a treaty made under documented pressure. The Myaamia Center blog says the Miami, who claimed part of the land, did not sign and viewed it as unjust, and describes mounting pressure on Native nations to sell.

Today, Bad River Band of the Lake Superior Tribe of Chippewa Indians of the Bad River Reservation, Wisconsin, Bay Mills Indian Community, Chippewa Cree Indians of the Rocky Boy's Reservation, Montana, Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians, Michigan, Lac Courte Oreilles Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Indians of Wisconsin, Lac du Flambeau Band of Lake Superior Chippewa and 30 more carry the history of the people named here.
