In the record
Part of the 1836 strip that the Iowa kept as their home after the 1854 and 1861 treaties; an 1876 act allowed 10 sections off its west end to be sold. The area covers about 0 thousand acres in what is now Kansas.
The 1899 record names Iowa, Meskwaki (Fox) and Sauk (Sac) as the people of this land.
How it was taken: a treaty or agreement. The OSU treaty text records a cession for a money present and an assigned tract, signed by Clark and the chiefs, warriors and counsellors, with no coercion stated.
Today, Iowa Tribe of Kansas and Nebraska, Iowa Tribe of Oklahoma, Sac & Fox Tribe of the Mississippi in Iowa, Sac & Fox Nation of Missouri in Kansas and Nebraska and Sac & Fox Nation, Oklahoma carry the history of the people named here.

Shapes come from C. C. Royce’s 1899 maps as georeferenced by the US Forest Service. They are approximate and are not legal descriptions of land. Royce recorded land the United States treated as ceded; the shape does not show a nation’s territory.
