In the record

Bought from the Cherokee for Joseph's band of Nez Percé under an 1878 act; they deeded it to the United States in 1885, and the Tonkawa ceded it in an agreement confirmed in March 1893. The area covers about 98 thousand acres in what is now Oklahoma.

The 1899 record names Nez Perce (Nimiipuu) as the people of this land.

Today, Confederated Tribes of the Colville Reservation and Nez Perce Tribe carry the history of the people named here.
