In the record
Kept by the Delaware as their Kansas reserve in 1854, partly sold in 1860, and the rest sold to the Missouri River Railroad Company in the 1866 treaty. The area covers about 48 thousand acres in what is now Kansas.
The 1899 record names Delaware (Lenape) as the people of this land.
How it was taken: a removal treaty. The preamble says Congress made it the President's duty to provide by treaty for the removal of Kansas tribes, and the articles provide for the Delawares' removal.
Today, Delaware Nation (Oklahoma), Delaware Tribe of Indians and Stockbridge Munsee Community carry the history of the people named here.

Shapes come from C. C. Royce’s 1899 maps as georeferenced by the US Forest Service. They are approximate and are not legal descriptions of land. Royce recorded land the United States treated as ceded; the shape does not show a nation’s territory.
