- 1829
Ceded to the United States
In the record
Granted to the Delaware on the Sandusky in the 1817 Treaty of the Maumee Rapids and made a reserve in 1818, then ceded by the Delaware in August 1829. The area covers about 0 thousand acres in what is now Ohio.
The 1899 record names Delaware (Lenape) as the people of this land.
How it was taken: a removal treaty. The Oklahoma State treaty text requires the band to remove west by a set date after ceding its reservation, and Kansapedia describes relocations by the United States government.
Today, Delaware Nation (Oklahoma), Delaware Tribe of Indians and Stockbridge Munsee Community carry the history of the people named here.

Shapes come from C. C. Royce’s 1899 maps as georeferenced by the US Forest Service. They are approximate and are not legal descriptions of land. Royce recorded land the United States treated as ceded; the shape does not show a nation’s territory.
