In the record

The United States made one treaty or agreement that names Castake as a party: California Treaty D: Camp Persifer F. Smith, Texan Pass, 1851 (unratified).

The records group it with Chumash.

The region was home to a small local group that spoke an interior dialect called Castac Ventureño.
Research notes

Named in an unratified California treaty of 1851-52. People: Chumash (Castac / interior Ventureño). Hodge (1907) lists "Castake" only as one of the Kern-Tejon tribes. Far Western (Merriam) records "Tribe, Kas-tak (Chumash)" at Castac Lake; equation of treaty Castake with Castac is by name and place.
