Land area
Reservation of the Comanche in Texas (area 512)
- 1867
Set aside as a reservation
In the record
Set apart in 1854, with the Texas legislature's permission, as one of two reservations on the Brazos for the Comanche and other Texas Indians; abandoned in 1859. Not a cession. The area covers about 77 thousand acres in what is now Texas.
The 1899 record names Comanche as the people of this land.
This area was not ceded. The 1899 record shows it as a reservation the nation kept, at least until the record ends in 1894.
Today, Comanche Nation, Oklahoma carries the history of the people named here.

Shapes come from C. C. Royce’s 1899 maps as georeferenced by the US Forest Service. They are approximate and are not legal descriptions of land. Royce recorded land the United States treated as ceded; the shape does not show a nation’s territory.
