Land area
Land of the Co-com-cah-ra, Kah-wè-a and others in California, ceded 1852 (area 308)
- 1852
Ceded to the United States
By California Treaty K: Village of Temecula, 1852 (unratified)
In the record
Land outside the reserve that the San Luis Rey, Kah-wè-a and Co-com-cah-ra were to give up under an 1852 treaty at Temecula that was never ratified. The area covers about 5.9 million acres in what is now California.
How it was taken: a treaty the Senate never ratified. The OSU treaty page marks it Unratified, and Prologue says the Senate rejected all 18 California treaties.

Shapes come from C. C. Royce’s 1899 maps as georeferenced by the US Forest Service. They are approximate and are not legal descriptions of land. Royce recorded land the United States treated as ceded; the shape does not show a nation’s territory.
