Reservation of the Chap-pah-sim, Co-to-plan-e-nee and others in California (area 280)
- 1851
Set aside as a reservation
By California Treaty E: Dent's and Vantine's Crossings (Stanislaus River), 1851 (unratified)
In the record
Set aside as a reservation on the Stanislaus River for the Chap-pah-sim, We-chil-la and other bands by an 1851 treaty that was never ratified; not a cession. The area covers about 97 thousand acres in what is now California.
This area was not ceded. The 1899 record shows it as a reservation the nation kept, at least until the record ends in 1894.

Shapes come from C. C. Royce’s 1899 maps as georeferenced by the US Forest Service. They are approximate and are not legal descriptions of land. Royce recorded land the United States treated as ceded; the shape does not show a nation’s territory.
