In the record
Granted to the Wyandot as a 12-mile-square reserve at Upper Sandusky in 1817 and enlarged in 1818; a 5-mile strip off the east end was ceded in April 1836, and the rest in March 1842. The area covers about 46 thousand acres in what is now Ohio.
The 1899 record names Wyandot as the people of this land.
How it was taken: a treaty or agreement. The OSU treaty text records an agreement with chiefs acting for the tribe, with sale proceeds returning to the tribe and a right to halt the sale; no coercion is described.
Today, Wyandotte Nation carries the history of the people named here.

Shapes come from C. C. Royce’s 1899 maps as georeferenced by the US Forest Service. They are approximate and are not legal descriptions of land. Royce recorded land the United States treated as ceded; the shape does not show a nation’s territory.
