In the record
Granted to the Ottawa in 1817 as 34 square miles at Tushquegan (McCarty's village) on the Miami of Lake Erie, then ceded in February 1833. The area covers about 23 thousand acres in what is now Ohio.
The 1899 record names Ottawa as the people of this land.
How it was taken: a removal treaty. The OSU treaty text has the band agree to remove from the ceded lands and applies the payment to its listed debts.
Today, Grand River Bands of Ottawa Indians, Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians, Michigan, Little River Band of Ottawa Indians, Michigan, Little Traverse Bay Bands of Odawa Indians, Michigan and Ottawa Tribe of Oklahoma carry the history of the people named here.

Shapes come from C. C. Royce’s 1899 maps as georeferenced by the US Forest Service. They are approximate and are not legal descriptions of land. Royce recorded land the United States treated as ceded; the shape does not show a nation’s territory.
