In the record

Set aside in 1818 for the Wyandot band at Big Spring as 16,000 acres, then ceded to the United States in January 1832. The area covers about 23 thousand acres in what is now Ohio.

The 1899 record names Wyandot as the people of this land.

How it was taken: a treaty or agreement. The Oklahoma State treaty text records a signed supplementary agreement adding reservations and annuities, with no mention of coercion.

Today, Wyandotte Nation carries the history of the people named here.

Shapes come from C. C. Royce’s 1899 maps as georeferenced by the US Forest Service. They are approximate and are not legal descriptions of land. Royce recorded land the United States treated as ceded; the shape does not show a nation’s territory.
